Dy CM assures early rehabilitation of landslide-hit people

Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said the Jammu and Kashmir government will soon identify land for rehabilitation of the landslide-hit people in Kathua district.
Singh, accompanied by a team of senior officials, visited the landslide-hit areas in Billawar tehsil of the district and interacted with the affected people, a spokesman said.
At least 40 houses and a government school building were damaged in a landslide at Morha-Chuhara village in Billawar tehsil on Thursday.
Singh assured the landslide victims that the government will identify land for their rehabilitation in safer areas. The officers have been directed to condcut the damage assessment and submit a report, he said.
He said exgratia relief will be granted to them as per the SRRF norms.
The officials also distributed tents and edibles among the affected.
