Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today directed the Ganderbal district administration to put in place the necessary mechanism for the smooth conduct of the annual Kheer Bhawani Mela, beginning on June 12.
Singh was speaking at a review meeting convened to discuss the arrangements to be put in place for the mela celebration and related ceremonies.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the district administration to ensure that necessary and proper arrangements were put in place for the devotees.
He said coordinated efforts from different sectoral officers were essential to put in place a fool-proof mechanism.
"We should all put in our efforts to ensure successful completion of the event as it holds a great place in our socio-religious ethos," he said.
Singh directed the district administration to ensure that un-interrupted power supply, water and other essential services were provided to the devotees.
He said adequate number of blankets should also be kept in place for those staying overnight and the requisite sanitation measures should also be undertaken.
Singh also urged the police authorities to put in place adequate security arrangements, besides ensuring the smooth regulation of traffic.
He said the necessary parking spots should also be identified for the devotees.
Singh, while reviewing the healthcare facilities, was told that a 24-bedded mobile hospital would be put in place, besides three ambulances would also be put in service to provide the requisite medical facilities to the devotees, an official spokesman said.
