Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar Tuesday said the dynasty politics of the Nehru-Gandhi family, which the country witnessed after independence, has hampered its progress.

Addressing a poll rally at Surajpur here, which is part of Ambala Lok Sabha constituency from where sitting MP Rattan Lal Kataria is the BJP candidate, Khattar slammed opposition INLD and the JJP accusing them of only considering their own well being.

"Japan and India gained independence around the same time but the dynasts derailed India's progress. The Nehru-Gandhi family due to its dynastic rule derailed the progress of the country," Khattar said.

"The dynastic rule of this family did not allow any deserving person to come forward," he said, citing it as the main reason why India lags behind Japan.

Besides the Congress, the chief minister attacked the Indian National Lok Dal and the Jannayak Janata Party.

"They filled their homes and worked for the welfare of their relatives," he said, adding that only the sons and grandsons of leaders of the two parties were flourishing.

On the Chautala family feud, he said, "Parties facing internal bickering can never develop the state, time has come to eliminate dynastic rule and family rule."
