An e-library was inaugurated today at Neemka Jail in Faridabad.
The e-library was inaugurated today by the Haryana Director General of Prisons Yashpal Singhal. It has been set up by India Vision Foundation (IVF) and G-Fore Group at the jail in Faridabad, a release said here.
Singhal said the facility's main aim is to provide good education to the inmates so that when they are released from jail, they leave with some knowledge.
Giving further details, he said any book can be read by downloading it from the e-library.
The objective is to enable the inmates to learn skills for which courses like motor winding, AC repair and other skill development programmed are being taught, Singhal said.
Founder of India Vision Foundation (IVF), a former IPS officer Kiran Bedi said, IVF was running programmes in the jails of Haryana to curb crime.
With the support of government, the organisation is working in jails. Those criminals who would learn skills from here would not commit any crime, when they are free from jail, Bedi said.
The IVF is running programmes in 19 jails of Haryana besides Tihar jail and Dasna jail, she added.
