Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today launched the e-way bill system for carrying out inter-state movement of goods.
The e-way bill has been rolled out from today across the country as per which inter-state transportation of goods worth over Rs 50,000 will have to be done through e-way only, Sushil Modi said while launching it in Bihar at the secretariat premises here.
"The new system will also be implemented for carrying out movement of goods within states after three weeks in a phased manner," Sushil Modi, who also holds the finance portfolio, said.
In the last meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, more than a dozen amendments were introduced in the provisions of e-way bill, he said.
As of now, the server has the capacity to generate 75 lakh e-way bills every day which will be increased to one crore in days to come, he said.
Sushil Modi asked traders and transporters to transport goods with e-way bill only as erring persons cannot escape under the GST regime.

"Don't indulge in tax-evasion by showing less turnover, otherwise government will be forced to intervene (to act)...All registered traders must file their returns on time," he said.
Around 3.25 lakh traders have registered themselves under the GST regime in Bihar, of whom the number of regular taxpayers stood at 2.35 lakh, he said.
