Speaking at the Independence Day programme here, Zeliang also appealed to NSCN(K) to shun the path of violence and return to the ceasefire agreement.
NSCN(K) abrogated the 14-year-old ceasefire agreement with the Centre in March, 2015, while the Framework Agreement with NSCN(IM) was signed on August 3, 2015.
On the law and order front, the chief minister said the overall situation in the state continued to be peaceful.
Zeliang said the border dispute between Nagaland and Assam has been pending adjudication in the Supreme Court. In order to secure the border and strengthen the hand of the field level administrative officers, adequate provisions are being made for improving the infrastructure like drinking water, road connectivity and offices and quarters for the border magistrates.

In order to maintain peace and tranquillity in the disputed border areas of Assam and Nagaland, Border Peace Coordination Committees have been formed in all the districts along the inter-state border. Representatives from both the states have been inducted into the committees on a voluntary basis.
He said that even though the economy of the state was growing faster than the national average, it should not be forgotten that an overwhelming part of this growth was financed by the central government. "There is an urgent need to increase our own revenue," he said.
