Earthquake-resistant primary school inaugurated in north Delhi

A municipal primary school built with earthquake-resistant features was today inaugurated in Rohini area here.
The two-storey school building, inaugurated by North Delhi Mayor Yogender Chandolia, has 14 classrooms, two toilet blocks at each floor, a staff room, office room and science room.
The building in Rohini's Sector-3 in ward number 45 has been developed at an approximate cost of Rs 2.36 crore in an area spread over 5000 sq km, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation said in a statement.
The building is earthquake-resistant and also has the facility of underground tank for drinking water, NDMC Standing Committee Chairman Mohan Bhardwaj said.
Arrangements for water-harvesting are being made in the municipal schools to ease off the problem of groundwater scarcity, he added.
Mayor Chandolia said the corporation's schools in Rohini Zone provide ample space for physical activities also.
Quality of mid-day meal would also be improved and a park for women and children will be developed in this area, he added.
Member of Parliament from North-West Delhi Udit Raj was the special guest on the occasion.
