Played under extreme cold conditions, East Bengal were happy with a draw while Lajong failed to beat the visitors as they did with all other three teams from Kolkata this season.
Despite creating as many as 12 corners, the visitors failed to break the rock solid defence of Wailad and Minchol Son in the attacking third.
On the other hand, Lajong created as many as four free kicks which were not that impressive.
An Edeh Chidih free kick in the 75th minute flew just above the bar making the home fans silence for some seconds.
With this draw, East Bengal retained their table top position with 21 points while Lajong earned a spot up the table at number eight behind Mohun Bagan.
"The clean sheet at the end of the match is pleasing, even as we had several clear cut opportunities in the first half. But we are happy with the points," East Bengal coach Trevor Morgan said at the post match conference.
