East Bengal to confer highest honour to Bachendri Pal

First Indian woman mountaineer to scale Mount Everest Bachendri Pal will be conferred East Bengal's highest honour, Bharat Gaurav, during their 95th Foundation Day function at the Kshudiram Anushilan Kendra on August 1.
The host of awardees will also include former India footballer and coach, Amal Datta and Parimal Dey who will be conferred the Lifetime Achievement awards for their contribution to the club.
Defender Arnab Mondal, who recently signed up for city ISL franchise Atletico de Kolkata, was adjudged the Player of Year.
They will also felicitate referees Kalidas Mukherjee and Gopinath Pyne and journalists Nikhil Bhattacharjee and G C Das.
East Bengal had constituted the award in 2011, which was given to legendary hockey player Leslie Claudius.
Former football Olympian Ahmed Khan and Asian Games gold medallist Arun Ghosh were given the honour in previous two years.
