Citizens living in east Delhi will now be able to get the first free copy of death and birth certificates delivered at their doorstep thanks to a new scheme launched by the EDMC today.
However, the scheme only applies to institutional events.
"For institutional death and birth events, ie those happening in a hospital under our jurisdiction, the first free copy of the corresponding certificate will be sent to the concerned citizen by post," East Delhi Municipal Corporation, Public Relations Officers Yogendra Singh Mann told PTI.
The new scheme was launched by East Delhi Mayor Meenakshi at the EDMC headquarters here in Patparganj.
The EDMC today also launched a scheme to facilitate citizens with a half-an-hour window facility at CSBs (Citizen Service Bureau) in each of its zones, for addition of name in the earlier registered birth certificates, Mann said.
The mayor said the scheme will cover around 80 per cent of institutional events of total births and deaths occurring in the jurisdiction of EDMC, adding it will definitely reduce workload and waiting time at CSBs counters.
