EC announces discount on mobile phones for first time voters

In a bid to encourage young electors to exercise their franchise, District Election office here today announced a discount on purchases of mobile phones and related accessories for the first time voters.
District Election officer, Jalandhar, Varun Roojam today said, "the first time voters in the district would be given a discount of 10 per cent and 15 per cent on the purchases of mobile phones and accessories respectively in selected electronic stores. For this, they will just have to show voter's ink mark on their finger."
He said, similarly, few restaurants in the city have already announced a rebate of 30 per cent to those who will exercise their vote for the first time.

The election for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab is scheduled to be held on April 30.
