EC asks J-K govt to defer appointment of PSEs vice-chairmen

The Election Commission of India has asked the state government to defer the appointments of 16 vice-chairpersons of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) till the completion of bypolls to the two Lok Sabha in Kashmir.
"The appointments of 16 Vice-Chairpersons of the PSEs may be deferred till the completion of election process and if any formal orders have been issued on or after March 9, the date of announcement of bye-elections in Srinagar and Anantnag Parliamentary constituencies in the state, the same may be rescinded with immediate effect," reads the communique from ECI addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K.
The state government had appointed 16 Vice-Chairmen/ Chairpersons of the PSEs without making their orders for appointment public.
Several of the VC have joined their posts.
