EC holds drawing contest to draw Delhiites to polling booths

Aiming at achieving an increased voter turnout in the upcoming Assembly elections, the District Election Office (South West) organised a painting and tagline competition to create awareness among the electorate about the importance of exercising one's franchise.
Following the competition, an exhibition of the paintings was put up at the community centre in Bijwasan today, which will continue till November 8.
The honour of inaugurating the exhibition was given to a centenarian voter, the 102-years-old Ram Adar Shukla, who is the oldest registered voter in Assembly constituency No. 36.
District Election Officer Nikhil Kumar said that the paintings had been made by schoolchildren to motivate people to casting their votes. The move was undertaken as part of the Election Commission's Systematic Voters' Education And Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.

The painting competition was organised in collaboration with the Department of Education.
Apart from the painting competition, slogan and essay writing contests, too, were held at the Government Girls' Senior Secondary School in Najafgarh, which saw participation by around 200 students.
Competitions were held at primary schools at Jaffarpur and at the Mata Kasturi Devi School. Students who have attained 18 years of age were also assisted in getting voter ID cards.
A poster painting competition was also organised at the Shiksha Bharti Public School in Sector 7, Dwarka.
