EC issues notice for November 19 bypolls

In view of the upcoming by-elections to the 14-Lakhimpur Parliamentary Constituency and 20-Baithalangso Assembly Constituency in Assam on November 19, the Election Commission has directed all electors to produce EPICs at polling stations before casting their votes.
The EC has also prohibited conduct of any exit poll and publication and dissemination of their results.
For those who are unable to produce EPICs, will have to produce one of the alternative photo identity documents for establishing their identity, the Election Commission said.
If it is not possible to establish the identity of the elector on account of mismatch of photographs etc, the elector will have to produce one of the alternative photo documents, the EC said.
Overseas electors who are registered in the electoral rolls will be identified on the basis of their original passport (and no other identity document) at the polling station.
The EC has directed that Authenticated Photo Voter Slips should be distributed to all electors before the polls.
The restriction on conduct of any exit poll and publication and dissemination of their results in connection with the by-election will be effective for the period between 7 AM and 5.30 PM on November 19, the poll body said.
Further, displaying of any election matter including results of any opinion poll or any other survey, in any electronic media, will be prohibited for a period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for conclusion of polls, the EC added.
