The electoral office in Gujarat has launched a month-long special electoral roll revision drive from July 1, before a final list is published in September, ahead of the assembly elections due later this year.
"We have launched a special drive for summary revision of electoral list till July 31. The drive includes a lot of other factors like addition of new booths -- we have added 1,900 new booths, taking total number of booths to 50,128," chief electoral officer B B Swain told PTI.
A final list will be published on September 25.
A voter can consult the booth level officer, or go to the state election commission website, use mobile phone SMS service and helpline number -- 1950 -- to check his electoral roll details, and fill in forms 6, 7, 8 and 8(A) to add, delete, correct, and transfer his name, respectively, as per his requirement.
"The one month period will also have three special drives on Sunday (July 9, July 16 and July 23)," Swain said.
The final voter list will be published on September 25, he said.
