EC notice to CPI-M candidate

The Election Commission today issued a show-cause notice to CPI-M candidate for Burdwan East Lok Sabha seat, Ishwar Das, for allegedly distorting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's photo in social networking site, official sources said.
The show-cause notice was served on the basis of a complaint lodged by Trinamool Congress leader Alok Das alleging that Ishwar Das distorted pictures of Banerjee during his campaign in Facebook, sources said.
The complaint was lodged with District Magistrate and District Electoral Officer Saumitra Mohan.
Additional District Magistrate Utpal Biswas served the show-cause notice to the CPI-M candidate asking him to give a reply within 24 hours, officials said.
