Election Commission today directed Kapurthala district administration to immediately remove foundation stones laid recently by Akali Dal MLA Jagir Kaur for different projects to be completed from MPLAD funds.
Punjab's Additional CEO Raminder Singh said the EC took notice of complaint by Santosh Chaudhary, MP Hoshiarpur, who had alleged that Kaur, without any official authority or taking district administration into confidence, had laid the foundation stones.
Singh said directions have also been issued for random checking of vehicles of political persons and VIPs by flying squads/static surveillance teams.
In case of cash found more than Rs 10 lakh was found, the information should be forwarded to nodal officer of Income Tax department, he said.
