The Election Commission Thursday said that retired BSF director general K K Sharma had been replaced by 1981 batch IPS officer Vivek Dubey as central police observer for West Bengal.
Additional CEO Sanjay Basu told reporters here "K K Sharma has been replaced by Vivek Dubey as central police observer for West Bengal".
Sharma's appointment as central police observer for West Bengal had been objected to by Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee and CPI(M) on grounds of neutrality.
Basu said 24 police observers had been appointed for West Bengal and 47 general observers for all the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.
The EC had also appointed 44 expenditure observers for the state, besides an awareness observer, he said.
Regarding complaints received through National Grievance Services, he said a total 798 had been received in the state out of which 281 were resolved.

On complaints received through the cVIGIL app, Basu said the EC had received 1814 so far in West Bengal, out of which action had been taken against 1151 of them.
He said total liquor seized so far was 5.05 lakh litres, while cash seizures was to the tune of Rs 10.42 crore in the state ahead of the seven-phase Lok Sabha polls.
