State's Chief Electoral Officer had yesterday advised Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava to defer her induction, saying it would be a violation of code of conduct.
But Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had said that he would go ahead with the induction as it was his constitutional right.
Alina, wife of former state tourism minister Matanhy Saldanha, is expected to be the BJP candidate in the June 2 Cortalim by-election, necessitated due to the death of her husband. She is scheduled to be sworn-in as minister on May 8.
RTI activist Aires Rodrigues has taken objection to Saldanha's induction.
