Eco Fun run for promoting ecological sustainability issues
Press Trust of India Udhgamandalam The Wellington Gumkhana Club (WGC) today organised the Nilgiris Eco Fun Run, an awareness initiative towards the ecological sustainability issues, preservation of wildlife and cleanliness, being undertaken in the world at present.
The five-km run has slogans of +Keep Clean, Go Green,+ promoting the idea of eco friendly practices with a fitness perspective.
The run was flagged off by Dr C Gopalakrishnan, MP, Nilgiris, in which more than 1,000 people participated, making it the largest eco runs ever held in the Country.
The run was led by Lt Gen S K Gadeocke, Commandant, Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), who reiterated the entire DSSC, WGC, Wellington Contonment, as a non-plastic zone.
Environment signboards have been placed in the DSSC to reinforce the importance of ecosystem, preservation and protection of wildlife and litter free zone, he said.
