Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu today alleged that the economy plunged into crisis and its growth stunted due to "bad policies" of the Manmohan Singh government at the Centre.
"Economy is under crisis with only 4.6 per cent growth under UPA government in contrast to tremendous growth under the NDA rule. While inflation was contained at 4 per cent in NDA rule, it has touched 10.6 per cent at present under current dispensation," Venkaiah said at the launch of 'Modi for PM' campaign here.
He said the sluggish growth has made industries wary and their expansion has shrunk. "Many youths are losing employment as industries are retrenching their staff due to economic gloom which is the fallout of bad policies of Manmohan Singh government," Venkaiah added.
Dwelling on Modi's Gujarat model of governance, the senior BJP leader said both domestic and foreign investors were "eagerly awaiting for Modi to become the Prime Minister after elections."
"Though Congress claims to have implemented many schemes for SCs, STs and minorities in tune with its vote bank politics, the party was routed in almost all the states where Assembly polls were held and is also negated by the very sections of voters whom it wanted to appease," he said.
