ECR collects Rs 10 lakh as fine for illegal chain pulling
Press Trust of India Patna The East Central Railway (ECR) has collected Rs 10.06 lakh as fine from 1,283 people arrested for pulling chains in trains without valid reasons between January and May this year, an official release said today.
A total of 1,182 cases of illegal chain-pulling in trains under the division was found during period of January to May this year, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), ECR, Arvind Kumar Rajak said in a statement.
46 people who did not pay the penalty were sent to jail for the crime, he said.
ECR comprises of Danapur, Sonepur, Samastipur, Mughalsarai and Dhanbad divisions.
In Danapur division, a total of 737 persons were arrested on the charge in 624 cases and Rs 6.68 lakh recovered from them as fine, the CPRO said.
In Mughalsarai division, 124 persons were arrested in 173 cases and a penalty of Rs 60,900 realised for pulling the chain unnecessarily during the period, he said, adding, that in Dhanbad division, 43 arrests were made in 51 cases and Rs 22,700 as fine recovered from them.
