ECR converts 29 unmanned Railway crossings into manned one

The East Central Railway zone has converted 29 unmanned crossings into manned ones during the last financial year, which also saw improvement in punctuality of trains running.
The ECR also closed 10 unmanned crossings having low traffic pressure and built ROB (Rail Over Bridge) at three other places, ECR General Manager D K Gayen said addressing the 62nd Railway week celebration.
ECR comprises five divisions including Danapur, Sonepur, Mughalsarai, Dhanbad and Samastipur.
DRM of all divisions along with other senior officials were present at the function conducted by Chief Public Relations Officer Arvind Kumar Rajak.
The ECR GM said that the zone with headquarters at Hajipur, which came into existence 14 years ago, earned Rs 2604.28 crore from passenger fair in 2016-17, which is 7.18 per cent more than earned in 2015-16.
There was improvement in trains punctuality too, he said. In terms of Mail Express trains 1.29 per cent improvement was registered in timely running while it was 9.28 per cent for passenger trains as compared to 2015-16.
Dhanbad division was declared the winner in overall performance while Danapur and Mughalsarai held the second positions.
