The ED and Income Tax officials also searched the house of Ramesh Parashuram Puriya, who was also summoned to appear before them, the officials said.
The money was suspectedly meant to be used to woo voters, according to officials who had carried out the raid. The team of officials from district administration, Income Tax Department and Election Commission, had also seized Rs eight crore worth National Savings Certificate bonds on that day.
The officials had also taken control of a godown belonging to the financier on the outskirts of Hospet town.
The Income Tax department had also issued notice to the financier.
