"Red Star Over China," written in 1937 by Snow - the first American reporter who had a close association with Communist Party leader Mao Zedong - was one of the most influential books with a western understanding and sympathy for the Communist Party of China (CPC) in the 1930s.
The 30-episode TV series starting on Saturday will be faithful to the original book, extensively depicting military and political developments in China, "especially Chinese bravery in fighting against Japanese invaders," state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
