Neem oil in the non-edible section, also went up on increased offtake by consuming industries.
Marketmen said fresh buying by vanaspati millers and retailers amid a firm global trend mainly led to rise in edible oil prices.
Meanwhile, palm oil for March delivery, advanced 0.5 per cent to USD 770 a metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
In the national capital, groundnut mill delivery (Gujarat) and mustard expeller (Dadri) oils rose by Rs 100 and Rs 50 to Rs 8,000 and Rs 7,250 per quintal, respectively.

Tracking a firm global trend, palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (Kandla) oils recovered by Rs 100 each at Rs 6,100 and Rs 5,700,per quintal, respectively.
Soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils also traded higher by the same margin to Rs 7,000 and Rs 6,700 per quintal, respectively.
In the non-edible section, neem oil rose by Rs 50 to Rs 5,250-5,350 per quintal on increased industrial offtake.
