EDMC extends period for availing 15 pc rebate on timely

The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) today extended the period for availing 15 per cent rebate on timely payment of property tax from June 30 to July 31.
The EDMC House under Section 177 of Delhi Municipal Corporation Act resolved to extend the relief to property owners affected by the increase in property tax due to the implementation of the third Municipal Valuation Committee (MVC) recommendations, said a senior municipal corporation official.
As per the recommendations of the third MVC, the categories of properties in some areas have been upgraded. The affected property owners have demanded that the step be rolled back, a resolution passed by the EDMC House said.

The recommendations of third MVC apply to properties in the entire city but North and South Delhi Municipal Corporations have not implemented them.
