Edu dept ministerial staff go on mass casual leave

The ministerial staff working in the state education department today went on a mass casual leave in Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Moga, Ropar, Hoshiarpur and Faridkot districts to press for their work-related demands.
State general secretary of the staff Pawanjit Singh Sidhu who led the protesters in Nawanshahr and Hoshiarpur districts said the protesting staff including senior officials like office superintendents.
They also submitted their memorandum of demands to the Deputy Commissioners.
Their demand included restoration of one percent quota to master cadre posts, granting them to right to choose station as is done in appointments and promotions in other cadres in the education department and creation of more posts in view of their increased workload, said the union leader.
Such protests in remaining districts of the state would be held in the coming days, he added.
