The idea of terrorism took shape in an individual's mind and education should be aimed at keeping the mind "pure", Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD) Satyapal Singh said here today.
"Education is a very important aspect to be covered in improving the society. Terrorism starts in the mind, so the mind should always be pure. The worst is the pollution of the mind which infects the brain," he said while addressing a 'Knowledge Panchayat' at Delhi University's (DU) Hindu College.
"Old-age homes are an example of the low levels of education. Parents are gods and goddesses for all, therefore such old-age homes are not needed. This is a result of new-age education. Development of the society is possible only through education," he added.
On the occasion, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) national president Poonam Mahajan said there was no better place for creativity and innovation than the university campuses.
"India wants to create self-reliant individuals. Young Indian men and women should be job creators, instead of being job-seekers. India is a huge market which is waiting for the knowledge and skills of the youngsters," she added.
