: Eminent educationist Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy, founder of the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) Group of Schools, died at a private hospital here on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest.
She was 93 and is survived by her son, the actor Y G Mahendran.
Rajalakshmi, who was admitted to a private hospital on Monday night, passed away following a cardiac arrest around noon on Tuesday, hospital sources said.
Popularly known as Mrs YGP, Rajalakshmi received the Padma Shri in 2010 for her contribution to the field of education.
Her husband, the late Y G Parthasarathy, was an actor and theatre personality.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami expressed his condolences and said Rajalakshmi was a pioneer in education.
"It is a loss not just for her family, but to the education sector and student community. I express my condolences to Y G Mahendran and his family members," he said in a statement.
