Regretting reports of sale of counterfeit LED bulbs under the Centre's ambitious UJALA programme in Bihar's Nalanda district, Energy Efficiency Services Limited today appealed to the consumers to buy subsidised bulbs from authorised centres.
EESL, tasked with supplying LED bulbs in Bihar under Union government's "Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All" programme regretted unscrupulous elements selling fake LED bulbs in Nalanda district.
"The consumers are hereby informed to only purchase LED bulbs from authorised centres of South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) and EESL," EESL said in a statement.
It also cautioned consumers not to purchase bulbs costing more than Rs 70 and should inform EESL and SBPDCL in case they notice any malpractice elsewhere.
The UJALA scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 5, 2015.
