Efforts being made to double farmers' income by 2022: Saini

Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Prabhulal Saini today said that efforts would be made to double farmers' income by 2022.
He also announced that 900 veterinary doctors and 4,000 livestock assistants would be appointed in the state soon.
"To double the income of farmers by 2022, we need to increase production and productivity both," Saini said.
The minister was replying to the debate on agriculture and animal husbandry issues in the state assembly.
Following the debate, the House passed demand for grants of over Rs 2,748.13 crore for agriculture and over Rs 866.32 crore for animal husbandry and medicine with voice vote.
Saini said that a scheme for international training of farmers will be launched and 50,000 farmers will be distributed quinoa seeds mini kits at free of cost.

The minister said 35.52 lakh Soil Health cards have been distributed among farmers in the state and the rest of farmers will also be given the same.
He said that state is making efforts to encourage organic farming in the state and currently organic farming is being done on 65,000 hectares of land.
The minister also announced a series of schemes for farmers, including the one for their training.
