A team of engineers led by Harishkumar visited the spot where the spud had got stuck following request from the fisherment to remove it as they caused extensive damages to the boats.
The five member team then discussed the various possibilities of the 50-tonne spud. The sharp edges of the broken spud damaged more than 10 country boats since 2009.
A strategy had been drawn up to cut the broke parts, and then pull the remaining portion of the spud. The work on removing the broken spud would begin shortly and it would brought to the shore in another one or two weeks.
The spud broke from the main ship in December 2006 when dredging work was on and got stuck in a precarious position.
