Efforts underway to improve health services: Akhilesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said the government was making continuous efforts to improve health services in the state.
"The government is working in every sector...Efforts are being made to provide better medical services and provide facility to the people, new colleges are being opened," he said after inaugurating the new paediatric ward at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee hospital here.
"So many important projects were not carried out by any of the previous governments," he claimed.
"Within short span of 16 months 500 new seats of MBBS have been added, which was not done at such a scale in the past," he said.
New hospitals were also being opened, Akhilesh said.
"I went to Jhansi and the condition of the hospital there was very poor. We decided to set up a 500 bed hospital at Jhansi, Gorakhpur and Saifai," the Chief Minister said.

"A number of people may tell the shortcomings, but we can tell much more achievements," he said.
The CM said that the government waived off the loans of the farmers which was not done in any other state. "We have a challenge to ensure that how roads and power reach villages, but we will meet them. We are also constructing bridges," he said.
On the occasion, state Health minister Ahmad Hasan said "Several forces are conspiring against the state government, but the CM dared to take them head on and they stand exposed."
On the issue, Hasan further said the suspension of IAS officer Durga Sakthi Nagpal and Ayodhya issue were two issues which were raised on a national-level.
However, on both issues, the Chief Minister took bold steps which were appreciated by people, he said.
