Accused Akash Singh, a student and B Balakrishna, a labourer (both 18 years), along with six juveniles, misbehaved with a pregnant woman and outraged her modesty on the night of March 16, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) V Satyanarayana told reporters today.
The woman and her husband who had come to the city from Mahabubnagar district for medical reasons had gone near the river to relieve themselves at night.
"Initially, the accused asked (the husband) who the woman with him was and their relation," the officer said.
On a complaint by the woman, the Shahinayathgunj police booked a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
