The eight accused had forcefully taken one Pratik Makhija, an electrical engineering student, to a university hostel room and verbally abused him before asking him to take off his clothes, Singh said.

In the report submitted after the inquiry on September 21, Harsh Kumar, Risabh Mishra, Rahul Sharma, Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Manish Jindal, Harshit Gupta, Ashish Yadav and Sahil Sirohi were found guilty, he said.
They have been expelled from the hostel and barred from entering into the University premises, he said.
