The girls from Churachandpur district of Manipur were rescued from the clutches of human traffickers at Yangoon by the Yangoon police, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Churachandpur, Rakesh Balwar told PTI over phone.
The rescued girls are expected to arrive in the state in the next three-four days, he said.
The SP said Yangon police has also taken up a case after rescuing eight girls following a complaint by additional chief secretary (Home) of Manipur, Suresh Babu, through the Indian Embassy at Myanmar.
The police picked up six persons including two women who are expected to have involved in the said human trafficking case, a police release said.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising of five police officers of Churachandpur district was formed by the SP on September three for thorough investigation into the matter.
