Eight-year-old raped by brother-in-law

An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her brother-in-law in southeast Delhi's Badarpur area, police said today.
The incident was reported last evening and the accused has been arrested, said a senior police official.
According to police, the 22-year-old accused took the minor girl to the market at Bhogal and, when they were later heading back home to the Madan Pur Khadar locality, led her to a forested area near Badarpur and allegedly forced himself upon her.
He then handed her Rs 100 note and told her to go home on her own after allegedly threatening her of dire consequences if she spoke of the matter to anyone, said a police official.

After reaching home, the victim narrated her ordeal to her mother.
Her relatives immediately caught hold of the accused, who had fled to his own house, and called police. The girl was, meanwhile, admitted in a hospital, police said.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, they added.
