Shivam, son of Harpal Singh and a resident of Shivpuram area, was kidnapped on Monday from outside his house where he was playing, police said, adding, his body was recovered yesterday from an abandoned house in the locality.
The motive behind the abduction and murder has not been established yet, they said.
According to a complaint filed by Singh under TP Nagar police station, the accused had called him up and demanded ransom of Rs 2 lakh in lieu of safe release of his son.
However, they said they could confirm it only after receiving a post-mortem report in this regard.
The investigation into all possible angles including personal enmity is on, they said.
