The district administration is making eloborate security arrangements for the peaceful conduct of the religious procession of 'Barawafat' on Prophet Muhammad's birthday on December 24.
CCTV cameras have been installed on routes to be taken during Juloos-e-Mohammadi, a procession taken out from different parts of the city every year.
"Additional police force will be deployed in all sensitive areas and the use of matador van during the event is prohibited," District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said.
"Meetings are being held with prominent political and religious leaders of the Muslim community to determine the route to be taken during the procession," he said.
Sharma also said pig farmers have been directed to keep away their pigs, "which are considered unclean or impure in Islam", from the procession.
