Elavarasan's death anniversary: Ban orders in Dharmapuri dist

Prohibitory orders under section 144 (1) of CrPC have been clamped in the entire district till July 10 ahead of the second death anniversary of a Dalit youth whose marriage with a caste Hindu woman triggered violence in November 2012.
District Collector Collector K.Vivekanandan has ordered enforcement of the prohibitory orders in the district effect from today till July 10 in view of tense situation, an official release said.
Several Dalit outfits and others have planned to staged rallies to observe the death anniversary of E Elavarasan of Nathamcolony in the district, who was found dead on railway tracks on July 4, 2013.
His intercaste marriage triggered anti-Dalit violence in which houses in Nathamcolony, Kondampatti and Annanagar were damaged allegedly by caste Hindus on November 10, 2012.
The release said permission had not been given to anyone for holding meetings and rallies in connection with the death anniversary and action would taken against anyone violating the orders.
