A 65-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment by a POCSO court here today for abducting and raping a minor girl.
The court also imposed a penalty of Rs one lakh over the convict.
The judgment came in a record five working days after the charge sheet in the matter was submitted on August 20, Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) at the Kota POCSO Court Kamal Kant Sharma said.
Judge Girish Kumar Agrawal sentenced Pappu alias Hariram, a resident of Chawani Ramchandrapura here to life imprisonment for abducting and raping a 10-year-old girl, the SPP said.
The girl was attending her mother at a hospital on October 13, 2017 when the accused took her on pretext of providing her money. He took her to Lakheri town where he raped her near a railway station and later left her.
The victim somehow managed to reach Kota railway station where she narrated the incident to police.
A case was lodged the next day in Nayapura police station in Kota under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the POCSO Act, the SPP said.
