Elderly woman beaten to death, husband injured in attack

A 75-year-old woman died and her husband was injured when they were attacked by unidentified persons here in Krishna district today.
According to police, the elderly couple was attacked at around 1 pm when they were sleeping in their house. Two unknown persons, armed with sticks, entered their house and demanded money.
When they refused to part with money, the duo attacked them with sticks, killing the woman on the spot and severely injuring her husband, said Sub-Inspector Habeeb Basha.
The deceased was identified as K Dhana Lakshmi (75), while her husband K Panduranga Rao was admitted to District Government Hospital, said police.
