A 76-year-old widow has been rendered homeless after her youngest son allegedly sold her belongings and threw her out of his house in New Friends Colony area, police said today.
Savita Sharma has been forced to stay at hotel since she has been rendered homeless, police said today.
"Savita has approached the police saying that she had been staying with her youngest son Samir from the year 1997 as per a family settlement. On September 12, her son told her that he has sold their New Friends Colony house and he took her to his new house in Friends Colony," a police spokesperson said.
"She has alleged that her belongings were sold off and her son forced her out of his new house on September 17 after which she had been staying at her relatives' homes and a hotel in Greater Kailash," said the officer.
According to Savita's complaint, her eldest son is "mentally not well" and her second son stays quite far in Greater Noida.
"A case has been registered under the relevant section of The Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act and police has initiated an investigation," the spokesperson said.
