They have won at the hustings but a few of the victorious candidates do not seem to have a permanent account number (PAN).
As the election results pour in from the four states of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh, some of the winners have not declared their PAN numbers in their election affidavits.
Issued by the Income Tax Department, PAN is a must for filing tax returns.
Some of the victorious candidates who have not declared their PAN include Shimla Bawri, the BJP candidate who has won from Anupgarh constituency in Rajasthan, and Congress candidate Phundelal Singh Marko from Pusprajgarh, Madhya Pradesh.
Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Dharmender Singh, who has won from Seemapuri in Delhi, also has not declared PAN details.
More than 1,000 candidates, across the four states, have not declared their PAN, according to data compiled by the Association for Democratic Reforms. The maximum number of such people are in Chattisgarh at over 400 while in Madhya Pradesh that number is more than 360.
There were more than 110 such candidates in the fray, in Delhi and Rajasthan, respectively.
