Elephant herd creates panic in estate area

Panic gripped Gajamudi estate in Valparai in the district, when a herd of five elephants entered the house of a worker and ransacked things inside it, today.
The worker and his family members had gone out when the herd entered the house much to the fear of the neighbours, police said.
Forest department personnel rushed to the area and managed to scare away the pachyderms to the jungles after toiling hard for nearly four hours, they said.
