The police said the male elephant killed mahout Radhe Musait (55) by lifting him in his trunk and smashing him dead.
The incident happened at Ghagra village when Musait, who had come from Uttar Pradesh, was preparing lunch, sources said.
Musait and his son had another female elephant with them and they were conducting shows in the villages to earn their livelihood.
