Eleven-member panel for upgradation of libraries
Press Trust of India Puducherry A 11-member official committee, under the chairmanship of the Puducherry Minister for Art and Culture, has been constituted for upgradation and modernisation of libraries at the state and districts levels and also branch libraries in the Union Territory.
A notification of the Department of Art and Culture said today that the committee would also prepare a comprehensive proposal which would be forwarded to the Union Ministry of Culture for sanction of financial assistance for establishing modern libraries as per National Mission on Libraries in the Union Territory.
The committee would also evolve proposals for utilisation of funds from the Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata.
The committee has as its members, among others, the Secretary to Department of Art and Culture, Collector of Karaikal, Director General of the Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation, the Librarian of Pondicherry University and Chief Engineer of PWD.
The Director of Art and Culture Department is the member Secretary of the panel.
