The RPF squads have arrested 11 touts and have prosecuted them under Section 143/144 of Indian Railway Act, a Northern Railway official said today.
Plans are afoot to publish the names of the apprehended touts in dailies to generate awareness among public about their activities, the official said.
The drive comes in the wake of mounting complaints from passengers about the misuse of Tatkal scheme and touts cornering a considerable portion of the tickets.
Railways have already decided to revamp the scheme and as a first step, changed the Tatkal booking to 10 AM instead of 8 AM. There would be separate counters for booking Tatkal tickets also.
Booking clerks have also been barred from carrying mobile phones inside counters during duty hours.
