The 'Lord of The Rings' actor has been handpicked by Einhorn - who works with him on TV show 'Wilfred' - to star as a 30-year-old man who discovers he hasn't fully undergone puberty due to a medical condition, reported Variety.
The quirky film is based on Ken Baker's 2001 memoir 'Man Made: A Memoir of My Body'.
Maggie Monteith, who is financing and executive producing the film in association with Dignity Film Finance, said, "The combination of Einhorn and Wood is exceptional, as we've seen with the success of 'Wilfred'. I know that they will honor Baker's true story in a very entertaining way."
The script is written by Joe Nussbaum and redrafted by Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove.
"'The Late Bloomer' is the type of wonderful heartfelt comedy that I like to engage in. Puberty can be difficult at best and has the potential to be extremely comedic in normal circumstances," said Einhorn.
'The Late Bloomer' is scheduled to begin production in January.
